HAIKU VALLEY - 1957. The impressive grade from the Main gate up to the big bomb proof transmitter building inspired the motor mechanics of HAIKU NRS to construct a go-cart. The challenge of the grade and sharp curves proved irresistible. Ron Hillstrom reports that most of the crew ended up with abrasions and bruises.

Point B on the photo that follows. Ready to be towed to the starting point.
The curves at A,B and C were the major challenge of the course that ran over 2,000 feet from start to finish. The barracks - in 1957 - stood between points A and B. The motor pool building at point A.
Point A. . . . . Almost to the start of the ride. Hang on tight!
Photo from 1946. The starting line is just to the right of the transmitter building. Notice that the beginning of the ride is steep enough to satisfy the most adventurous go-cart driver.
Didn't even make it to point A. - - Back to the shop & the First Aid station.
This is better!
Faster than a speeding bullet past point A.
THE RACE CONTINUES!
