After retiring from the Shipyard, Bill operated his own salvage business.Bill's son Reid remembers that several years ago he and Bill were looking at Haiku valley. Bill revealed for the first time that he had any connection with the valley by modestly saying,
"I climbed that mountain once". . . . What an understatement!
